Loretta Lynn to be honored with ‘Artist of a Lifetime’ award

This award ceremony will take place at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, Tennessee, and it will be aired on October 17 on CMT.

Academy Award winner Sissy Spacek, who won the “Best Actress” Oscar for her portrayal of Loretta Lynn in the motion picture, Coal Miner’s Daughter, will be presenting Lynn with this prestigious award.

Past recipients of the “Artist of a Lifetime Award” include Merle Haggard, who won it in its inaugural year (2014), as well as Kenny Rogers in 2015, and Shania Twain in 2016.

In a press statement, Loretta Lynn expressed that she is proud when she receives awards for her music. She shared her excitement for her new album coming out this Friday, and she expressed her gratitude to CMT for acknowledging her with this accolade, as well as for honoring the women in country music.

Aside from Loretta Lynn, the 2018 “Artist of the Year” celebration will honor such female country recording artists as Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, and Kelsea Ballerini, among others.

Loretta Lynn’s forthcoming studio album, Wouldn’t It Be Great, will be released on September 28.
