Regarding his experience on “Teen Wolf,” he said, “It’s amazing. We are on our sixth season now, and I still look forward to going to work every day. You can’t beat that. It came at a pretty cool point in my life, and it has been a great ride.”
He continued, “I just saw the finished trailer for the sixth season and it’s good. I think this season is going to be a really strong season. It’s going to be scary on a whole different level. It has deep fear, and I think people are going to like it a lot. There is a ton of heartache and it deals with very interesting concepts. It’s smart and it’s good and it’s still Teen Wolf.”
He plays the villain in the science-fiction thriller Beta Test, which was written, directed and produced by Nicholas Gyeney, and produced by Mirror Images LTD. “I have this film coming up and I’m very proud of it. It’s a small action film that was done as a homage to 90’s action movies, which have a special place in my heart. It has a very 2016 twist in its subject matter and ideas. It’s really cool since part of it is like playing a video game and part of it is like action. My hats go off to the director and writer Nicholas Gyeney. He did a really great job,” he said.
On his plans for the future, he said, “Right now, we are finishing up the first block of the sixth season, and then we will have a little time off, and go on a little surf trip, and then we will finish it up.”
Ashby is also known for such roles as Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat, Dr. Brett Cooper in Melrose Place, and Morgan Earp in Wyatt Earp.
For aspiring actors, he said, “Act. Don’t settle and just pursue your passion. Focus on the things that you can control, since there are so many things that you can’t control. Be happy with yourself with the work you did, and keep at it.”
In 2005, he was nominated by the “Soap Opera Digest Award” for “Favorite Villain” for his role in “The Young and the Restless.” “That was good and a fun part. I had just come back from doing a film in South Africa, and my wife, Susan, was on the show, and I knew all the people, and they invited me to be a small part, and it turned into something more than that. I had a great time. He was a fun character. He was bad,” he said.
On the key to longevity in acting industry, he said, “Luck. Maybe some talent and some professionalism. Stay honest and stay truthful and involved in your craft and try to get better. Be good to people since if they like working with you, they will hire you again.”
He listed actresses Michelle Pfeiffer, Scarlett Johansson, Charlize Theron, Tilda Swinton and Dame Judi Dench as his dream female acting partners, and praised all of these women for their talent.
