Actress Lexy Kolker chatted about the film “Manifest West” and the digital age.
It was directed by Louie Gibson (who is a son of Mel Gibson) and Joe Dietsch.
Milo Gibson (also a son of Mel Gibson) stars as Dave Hayes, the cast features Annet Mahendru as Alice Hayes, Lexy Kolker as Riley Hayes, Tim Heidecker as Steve Danik, and Michael Cudlitz as Eric Lind.
On being a part of “Manifest West,” she said, “I loved it. It was such a different experience filming in the middle of the wilderness. The cast and crew felt like a small family because filming was so remote so it was very personal and safe and we all watched out for each other at the peak of COVID. It was also incredible working on a movie with my sister Ava. That was the first time we were able to do scenes together.”
Regarding her daily inspirations as an actress, she said, “I love being an actress because I get to step into someone else’s journey and struggles and imagine what they are going through. Also, being on set is my happy place so all the rejection is always worth it to me.”
On being an actress in the digital age, Kolker said, “I don’t know any other way, but I think it’s important to connect to people with any available means, digital, social media, film and tv, so in some ways I feel like it’s good to be active with all of it.”
For young and aspiring actors, she said, “Never get discouraged by the rejection and keep pushing through, and learn as many skills as you can.”
On her future plans, she said, “I would love to keep working on my skill sets, get a good education, and keep growing on social media, and use my platforms to hopefully help causes who need a voice.”
She listed Zendaya, Stephen Amell and Will Smith as her dream acting partners.
On her definition of success, she said, “Success means having love in your life, getting to do what you’re passionate about, and making a difference in the world around you.”
