Lauren Swickard chatted about serving as a Head Writer of Season 2 of “County Rescue” on Great American Family. “County Rescue” is the show’s first original series.

The synopsis is: In “County Rescue,” Dani (Julia Reilly) and the other EMTs in training are courageous, everyday heroes.

With only one opening for three trainees, Dani’s faith in herself is tested each and every call. Dani believes her calling is to save lives. Now, she has to prove it.

‘County Rescue’

“This is my second show as a showrunner, and it was wonderful,” she admitted. “The cast is incredible. It was a lovely time on set. We were in Chattanooga, and we had a great time going on hikes together. It was a really sweet time, and we all bonded well.”

“There were some scenes that I was watching on the monitor and I was blown away. I loved writing faith-based stories,” she said.

“It means so much to me to be able to write scenes where characters are experiencing their faith, and it is happening for them in real time. I had never written faith-based content before, and it’s my new favorite thing. I want to do more,” she elaborated.

“One of the main themes of the show is listening to God’s calling, and that was in the first season and we carried that through to the second season,” she said.

“I want audience members to realize that though they think they are on the right path, and they are moving towards what God has for them, but that might change, and that’s okay,” she elaborated.

Swickard on co-writer Sherell Jackson

Swickard worked alongside her co-writer Sherell Jackson. “Sherell was a gift from the Lord in the writer’s room,” she said.

“Sherell and I wrote the whole show together; she did a great job writing Episode 5. Sherell is just so amazing. We spearheaded that storyline together, and it was awesome to work with her,” she explained.

Great American Family

On being a part of the Great American Family network, she said, “It is so great! The production team is comprised of veterans. I love everybody on that team. They are so kind, and I’ve had the most fun I ever had on set in a leadership role.”

Swickard on Rory Gibson

Swickard also had kind words about daytime actor Rory Gibson (“The Young and The Restless”), who worked with her in “Twisted Twin.”

“That movie was so much fun; it was one of the most satisfying characters, especially to play twins on camera,” she said.

“Rory was such a great scene partner. He is so kind and we totally bonded over our love for dogs and animals, and we spoke about kids,” she added.

Swickard on director Shaun Paul Piccinino

Swickard also complimented director Shaun Paul Piccinino. “Shaun is awesome. He is truly the best,” she said.

In her personal life, she enjoys being a wife to actor Josh Swickard, as well as a mother to her two kids Savannah and Arthur. “The family is doing great,” she exclaimed.

Swickard on ‘General Hospital’

Swickard recalled her time on the ABC daytime drama “General Hospital.” “I got to be on ‘General Hospital’ for 10 episodes as a nurse,” she said.

“That was very fun but I was also very nervous to be on that show because I am Josh’s wife, so I had to do a good job,” she said with a sweet laugh.
