Laura Linney to speak at Adelphi University’s Legends Dinner

This first-ever signature event will take place at the Ruth S. Harley University Center Atrium and Thomas Dixon Lovely Ballroom. This distinguished event will recognize three Adelphi faculty members: Dr. Richard Garner, the founding dean, Professor Nicholas Petron, from the Department of Theatre, and Carmen de Lavallade, the former chair of the Adelphi Department of Dance.

Adelphi University President Riordan, who was named “Best College President on Long Island,” will make the welcoming remarks, and attendees with enjoy a seated dinner. In addition, keynote speaker Laura Linney will make a special presentation at the Legends Dinner entitled “On Becoming a Legends: How Your Passion Becomes Your Legacy”

Throughout her respected career in film, theater and entertainment, Linney has won two Golden Globe awards, a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) award, as well as four Emmy awards. She has also earned four Tony nominations for her work in theater, and three Oscar nominations. Earlier this year, Linney was nominated for the 2017 Tony award for “Best Actress in a Play” her theatrical performance in The Little Foxes.

Linney has a special connection to the Adelphi University campus. Her stepmother is an alumna of the university (Class of 1955), and when she was younger, Linney often attended the Olmsted Theatre summer camps at Adelphi.
