Country artist Lacy J. Dalton chatted about her song “Burnin’ Love” and her new original album.

New original album

Dalton is releasing her original album, never heard on any other format than the original vinyl nearly 50 years ago, under her name, Jill Croston.

Almost no one even knows this album existed until now. “This harkens back to the music I grew up with – which was my mom, dad and sister all playing country music, and until I was 13 or 14 years old. It’s all I ever heard besides Perry Como and Rosemary Clooney,” she said.

The new album features the song “Burnin’ Love.”

The digital age

On being an artist in the digital age, Dalton said, “I’m a total techno-peasant and completely overwhelmed. Thank God I have good people around me.”

Future plans

Regarding her plans for the future, Dalton said, “I’m very excited about my new project called ‘For The Black Sheep,’ and once that’s done I want my next project to be ‘Songs of The New West,’ which is songs like ‘Pancho and Lefty,’ ‘Desperado,’ my song ‘Adios And Run,’ and ‘Friend of The Devil’ by John ‘Marmaduke’ Dawson.”

Music and songwriting inspirations

On her music and songwriting inspirations, she said, “It’s actually spiritual — we are so much bigger than all of this, and remembering that gives me inspiration.”

Favorite motto

She revealed that her favorite motto to live by is the “Golden rule” (do unto others) “This situation is already healed through spirit right now, the past is not the future, and never give up,” she said.

Success

On her definition of the word success, Dalton said, “Spiritual connectedness and wholeness.”

For her listeners and fans, she concluded about “Burnin’ Love,” “As Johnny Cash once said: ‘Love is a burning thing’.”
