Actress Kelli Ogmundson chatted about being a part of “Animal Control” on Fox.

Her character, Dolores, is dealing with the fallout from her workplace romance with Joel McHale’s character.

“It was wonderful,” she exclaimed. “It is such an incredibly funny, silly, but also kind and lovely cast and crew. I got to work with so many icons and important people in comedy, and then I was there too, being a huge nerd.”

On playing Dolores, she said, “I love how direct she is. She has an extremely strong moral compass and believes in what she thinks is right so hard. Probably too hard. But I love that for her. She is confident despite other’s efforts to bring her down, and she takes charge, all while remaining a bit of a mystery? And even with all that she still is just a bit of a weird woman.”

She had great words about working with Joel McHale. “He was excellent. Excellent! Joel is, of course, a master in comedy, but he’s a very kind person who brings a very collaborative and fun energy to set. Plus, he is an actual extrovert, and as someone who is on the shyer side, I really appreciate someone who can tell stories forever and I just get to sit back and enjoy. He’s also very tall,” she said.

The digital age

On being an actress in the digital age, now with streaming and technology being so prevalent, she said, “It’s definitely interesting. On the plus side, there is so much more content and accessibility which means more work and more interesting projects. I’ve also definitely had moments of ‘please don’t let this end up a gif’ and then it…ends up a gif. To keep my sanity I mostly stay away from the hashtags and search engines.”

Regarding her plans for the future, she said, “I would love to continue working on ‘Animal Control’ so we are crossing fingers for that second season. I want to keep working on comedies, start writing, and as a Canadian I’d love to travel for more work in the future. Besides work I’d love to adopt a second cat, take more dance classes, and lay down.”

Success

On her definition of the word success, she said, “I think the goal is always consistency and stability in an extremely inconsistent and unstable line of work. But if I’m working and loving what I’m doing, and have time for my favorite activity (sitting down), I’d say that is a success.”

The actress concluded about “Animal Control,” “It is such a great watch if you want to watch hilarious and interesting people navigate work and life and… raccoons? There are so many stand out performances across the board, you’ll have a new favorite character every week.”
