Richards’ forthcoming album is entitled Crosseyed Heart and it is expected to be released on September 18. His first radio single “Trouble,” will be available on July 17. According to an article in Rolling Stone Magazine, Richards collaborated on this project with drummer Steve Jordan, who served as a songwriter and producer. Rolling Stones background vocalist Bernard Fowler and guitarist Waddy Wachtel assisted him on this studio effort.
Crosseyed Heart is expected to include some neat collaborations such as Ivan Neville on keyboards, Sarah Dash on vocals, and multi-Grammy winner Norah Jones duets with him on the ballad “Illusion.” Spooner Oldham joins him on “Lovers Plea,” multi-instrumentalist Larry Campbell on “Robbed Blind” and Aaron Neville on “Nothing on Me.” The late saxophonist Bobby Keys, of The Rolling Stones, is featured on two songs: “Amnesia” and “Blues in the Morning.”
On this album, Richards plays both electric and acoustic guitars, as well as piano and bass, and it is an eclectic release, containing elements of country, rock, blues and reggae.
Richards’ previous solo album, Main Offender, was released in 1992, and it fared well on the charts. The Rolling Stones will be wrapping up their “Zip Code” tour next week.
