Kane Brown talks new single, CMT nomination, Jones Beach show (Includes interview)

His latest single, “What Ifs,” where he duets with country songstress Lauren Alaina, is making its way up the country charts. “Honestly, I wrote this song and I’ve been wanting to get a song with Lauren Alaina, ever since she came to Nashville and convinced to sing. I started texting her and she was about to work out in a boxing class and I asked her to record this song with me for 10 minutes, so she came in her workout gear and everything. She sang on the song, and wound up staying 45 minutes instead of 10, so I felt bad, but she amplified the song times ten and we got lucky enough to keep her on it,” he said.

Brown praised the song’s music video. “It was a beautiful scene. I’ve never seen anything prettier,” he admitted.

At the 2017 Academy of Country Music (ACM) awards, Brown was nominated for “New Male Vocalist of the Year” and his music video for “Used to Love You Sober” is up for the 2017 “Breakthrough Video of the Year” at the CMT Music Awards next month. “I actually felt accomplished for something,” he said, about his ACM nod. “I’m super pumped for that too,” he added, about the CMT Music Award nomination.

On June 4, Brown will be performing at Jones Beach on Long Island, along with Chris Young, Dee Jay Silver and headliner Jason Aldean. “I was there last year with Florida Georgia Line, and I’m super pumped to come back. Jones Beach is a beautiful place to play,” he said. “It will be a really rocking show.”

Taste of Country listed Brown No. 7 on its “10 Sexiest Male Country Singers” list. “I don’t know how I feel about that,” he said.

For his fans, he concluded, “I love them. Thanks so much for the support. I wouldn’t be here without them.”
