K Phillips to perform at Jones Beach, to open for Rob Thomas

K Phillips will be opening for the Counting Crows and Grammy winner Rob Thomas. Their tour kicks off on July 22 at the Perfect Vodka Amphitheatre at the South Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm Beach, Florida.

As indicated in the biography section of his homepage, his life could be “a country song.” His looks are reminiscent of a young Hank Williams, and he was named after veteran entertainer Kris Kristofferson. A West Texas native, Phillips was raised by his grandparents in the Concho Valley. His grandfather was a cattle rancher, as well as a state criminal court judge. A precocious musician, Phillips learned to play guitar and he began writing songs at five years old. Fast forward to the age of 14, he began playing the organ and the piano in bar bands. He was inspired to pursue music by the losses of his close friend and girlfriend, both of which died tragically.

Phillips’ music is available on iTunes by clicking here.

On August 16, they will be playing at the Coney Island Amphitheater in Brooklyn, New York, and on the following day, August 17, K Phillips will be playing a solo concert at the Rockwood Music Hall in New York City.
