Josh Dorr talks ‘Rocket’ single, country music and dream duets (Includes interview)

On his new radio single, “Rocket,” he said, “We just put it out on Sirius XM’s The Highway, and it is really exciting. Those guys at Sirius XM have helped me so much. It is just a fun, outgoing song about that new excitement about taking your girl out and getting lost, and living in the moment. I feel that everybody can relate to that. It just makes you feel good and we like playing it live. It is a crowd favorite at the shows.”

In early of 2016, Dorr hopes to get back in the studio to record some new songs that he has been writing over the years. “I am narrowing down to the final selections,” he said. “Hopefully, we will come out with new music next year.”

He is drawn to country music due to its lifestyle and the dedicated fans. “Growing up in Wyoming, that is about as country as it gets. I just enjoy country music and its stories and its lyrics, and growing up the way that I did. Country music is all about the people for me,” he said.

Dorr’s songwriting is inspired by movies or reading books or by life in general. “It comes from everywhere. Sometimes it is a melody or sometimes it is a lyric. It changes a lot, especially when I am travelling,” he said.

He listed country songstresses Miranda Lambert, Alison Krauss and Cam as his dream female duet choices. “I like Miranda’s music and I like her attitude,” he said, with a laugh. “I am good friends with Cam and she is blowing up right now, and she is amazing.”
