Joe Nichols discusses new country single ‘Never Gets Old’ (Includes interview)

“We were almost done with the record, and we needed that fun, really country, traditional-sounding song, and we found ‘Diamonds Make Babies’ and ‘Never Gets Old.’ The album title means that country music never gets old,” Nichols said, about his newest single.

Never Gets Old” and “Diamonds Make Babies” were both produced by veteran country producer Brent Rowan. “Brent’s an old friend, and he’s one of the best musical minds I’ve ever met. It was great to get back in the studio with him,” he said.

Nichols worked with acclaimed producer Mickey Jack Cones for most of the new album. “I love Mickey. He’s a great producer, who works very hard, and he has a great musical ear,” he said.

This past winter, Nichols sang a duet with Canadian country songstress Meghan Patrick entitled “Still Loving You.” “That was very fast. I went in and did the record, and what we sang was used. It was fun and it came out pretty good,” he said.

His new single “Never Gets Old” is available on iTunes.
