Jimmy Page: New girlfriend, 25; gets ‘match-fit’ to do live gigs

Jimmy Page relaunches Physical Graffiti

The 71-year-old Page commented about getting back to playing live music at a London gathering to launch the reissue of Led Zeppelin’s Physical Graffiti on the occasions of the album’s 40th “birthday.” Page remastered the reissue, as he has done with earlier albums from the Led Zeppelin catalogue. Talking about the album reissue was one thing but U.K. reporters were interested in knowing about Page getting back on stage.

“How it starts off is, you have to play guitar and get match-fit first,” he told the Rolling Stone’s Mark Sutherland at the launch. “So currently I’m in the process of doing that. But I’m also in the process of doing this (the reissue series), too. It’ll be closer to the end of the year rather than next month. I’m definitely warming up on the touchlines.”

Of the album Physical Graffiti, Page said all of the band, himself, singer Robert Plante, bass guitarist John-Paul Jones and their late drummer, John Bonham, were playing at their best for the record, the band’s sixth and their first on their own label, Swan Song. The reissue has companion discs along with it and Page said there are some “great surprises” in the package.

Jimmy Page and actress Scarlett Sabet

Other news items on Page concern his alleged romance with actress Scarlett Sabet, 25. Media in the U.K. report the two have been seen together multiple times and have been to dinner at Nando’s, a chicken eatery, on the occasion of Page’s January 9th birthday.

The Daily Mail ran photos of the two walking in London and holding hands. Sabet, who has the same first name as Page’s oldest daughter, has had smaller roles on television and was in low-budget horror film The Reeds. She’s published a book of poetry she sells on her own website. Page’s last marriage, his second, ended in 2008.

For the rock legend and his music, the questions have finally stopped coming about a reunion of Led Zeppelin. He’s expressed interest but Robert Plant has repeatedly declined. So Page said he is playing his guitar daily for the return to playing live music with as yet unnamed musicians.

“What I’m doing is something that’s going to be quite different,” he said at the reissue of Physical Graffiti. “It wouldn’t be anything that hopefully you’d imagine I would do.”
