Actor Jesse Metcalfe chatted about his latest films, fan events, and projects.
Metcalfe discussed being a part of the movies “On a Wing and a Prayer,” “Harmony from the Heart,” as well as working with Bruce Willis.
He is known for his acting work in “Desperate Housewives,” “Passions,” “John Tucker Must Die,” “Dallas,” and the Hallmark series “Chesapeake Shores.”
Two new acting projects in the works
On his forthcoming acting projects, Metcalfe shared, “I have a little indie film called ‘The Comic Shop,’ where I play a character named Mike, who is an aspiring comic book illustrator who owns a comic book shop in Las Vegas, and has lost his inspiration.”
Metcalfe continued, “Mike finds it in a young illustrator that comes into his shop, and he strikes up a friendship with, and he rediscovers his passion for being an artist. It’s a really cool little film and it will be on the festival circuit really soon. I am also a producer on that, and I am excited for people to see it.”
“I also did this action thriller called ‘Cold Deck’ opposite Stephen Dorff. I had a lot of fun with that one, and it should be coming out later this year,” Metcalfe foreshadowed.
“I’ve been maintaining a friendship with Arielle Kebbel. We randomly ran into each other about a year ago in New York,” he said
Epics Con in Chicago’s Navy Pier
On Sunday, March 24, 2024, Metcalfe will be appearing at Epics Con in Chicago’s Navy Pier. “I am excited about it,” he exclaimed.
“Arielle told me that she wrote a developed a sequel to ‘John Tucker Must Die,’ and then, this Epic Cons ‘John Tucker Must Die’ reunion came about, where I will be able to see both Arielle and Sophia [Bush] when I go up to Chicago to do this convention this coming Sunday. I am really excited about it,” he elaborated.
‘On a Wing and a Prayer’
Metcalfe discussed being a part of the film “On a Wing and a Prayer” where he starred alongside Heather Graham and Dennis Quaid. “I had a great experience on that one,” he recalled. “I was obviously honored to share the screen with Dennis Quaid and Heather Graham.”
“The producers behind the project were incredible to work with, and the movie was well-received, especially my performance, and I was really pleased. It was the No. 1 movie on Amazon Prime for three weeks. I am proud of this project. It’s a really entertaining and uplifting little film,” he added.
‘Harmony from the Heart’
Metcalfe also enjoyed being a part of the Great American Family movie “Harmony from the Heart,” which has become a Valentine’s Day staple.
This film was written by Jessica Lowndes, and he starred alongside her in the rom-com. “Everyone seemed to be very pleased with how ‘Harmony from the Heart’ turned out,” Metcalfe said.
“Jessica Lowndes wrote it, executive produced it, starred in it and sang the songs as well. There was an original song in there as well. Kudos to her. I appreciate Jessica giving me a job. I think everybody was really happy with our chemistry on screen and the way the movie came out,” he elaborated.
“I know that the Great American Family network promotes the movie ‘Harmony from the Heart‘ a lot, especially around Valentine’s Day, and I was just proud to be a part of it,” he added.
Working with Bruce Willis
“Those ‘Fortress’ movies were fun,” he admitted. “That was my second and third film with Bruce Willis. I am happy to have shared the screen with him, especially since he is retired now.”
“Bruce is an icon, and I grew up as a huge fan watching all of his films,” he recalled. “The first time I ever worked with him was on a movie called ‘Hard Kill’ and then the two ‘Fortress’ movies. That was a real feather in my cap, as they say.”
“I am proud and honored to have those on my resume, especially to have starred opposite Bruce Willis,” he expressed.
His own men’s skincare line
Later on in the year, he revealed that he will be launching his own men’s skincare line. “It will be ready to launch by the end of 2024. We will be coming out with three or four products to start, and I am really excited about it,” he said.
“People and fans are constantly asking me what my skincare routine is, and I take that as a great compliment and I take it very seriously,” he said.
“My mother was a hair and makeup artist and she really emphasized skincare to me when I was kid. I also suffered from acne when I was a teenager, so I learned a lot about skincare growing up, especially from the experience of having acne and from my mother,” he elaborated.
Christmas Cons
He also enjoyed being a part of the Christmas Con events each year. “Those are always so great,” he admitted. “Honestly, they just keep getting better every year. That’s 4 Entertainment is such an incredible company, and they take incredible care of us as talent, and they deliver a top-notch experience for the fans.”
“The fans and the people that attend these conventions seem to be having such a great time, and in return, I have a great time interacting with them and getting their feedback. I love hearing what their favorite rom-coms of mine are, and I love being a part of the panel discussions. We always have a laugh and talk about the funny things that have happened on set,” he elaborated.
Favorite motto to live by
He revealed that his favorite motto to live by is to “trust the process.” “That’s a new motto that I am living by these days,” he said.
“I’ve definitely made some changes to my approach to the industry. Instead of being results-driven, I am really trying to enjoy the journey and the process. Every day, I am trying to be the best version of myself,” he explained.
Embracing humility and spirituality
“I am staying grounded, grateful and enriching my spiritual life,” Metcalfe noted.” All of that is really important especially to combat the highs and the lows of this industry, and really put what we do into perspective.”
“A lot of times, actors can make the success or failure of their careers their whole identity, and I think there is a lot more to life than that,” he added.
Stage of his life
On the title of the current chapter of his life, Metcalfe said, “Renaissance.” “I think I am in a rebirth of renaissance,” he explained.
Success
“I think success is inner peace.” “You need to put your inner peace and your personal happiness ahead of everything. If you don’t feel good from the inside out, it really doesn’t matter what level of success you attain,” he explained.
Message for his fans
For his fans and supporters, Metcalfe expressed, “I would like to thank everybody out there who has supported me and has stuck with me through the years. I have a real loyal and dedicated fan-base. They really make it possible for me to do what I do.”
“I am forever grateful to them, and to all the people in the industry that have believed in me over the years, and have given me opportunities and have championed me in rooms that I am not in. I appreciate them as well,” he acknowledged.
