Jeremy Ray Taylor talks about starring in the action comedy film “London Calling,” where he worked opposite Josh Duhamel.
The movie also stars Rick Hoffman and Aidan Gillen, among others. It was directed by Allan Ungar co-written by Ungar, Omer Levin Menekse and Quinn Wolfe.
How was “London Calling” for you?
London Calling was incredible. Action comedy is what I have always wanted to do with my career.
So, having an opportunity to do my own stunts (or at least everything they’d let me do legally), act with A-list actors that I grew up loving, and filming in the beautiful landscape of South Africa, was absolutely wonderful.
“What did you like most about your character?”
This is a tough question because Julian is so lovable. His innocence is hard to beat, he genuinely doesn’t understand his situation and is completely desensitized to his surroundings and the career path his father has him on.
He’s always chasing something that he will never achieve, which is to make his father proud.
How does it feel to be an actor in the digital age?
I’m not sure how to answer this mainly because I was never an actor before the digital age. It’s great and scary.
AI is creeping up quick but our technology, cameras, lenses, light, etc are at their best and we’re getting great product out of that.
Low budget films are able to match cinematography because industry-standard cameras are starting to become much more widely available, and that’s what film-making is about.
What do your plans for the future include?
I’m very open to the future. Right now I’m a huge car enthusiast. I’m working on cars and content creation for that hobby.
I’ve got a new movie coming out called “This Too Shall Pass,” which hits theaters in October. So, the future is hectic and I want it to take me wherever God wants it to.
What is your advice for young and emerging actors?
Get used to rejection, be unapologetically yourself, be humble and work hard.
This is a really hard career with a great payoff, so be nice to everyone all the time and keep your eyes open and seek for opportunities
What does the word success mean to you? (My favorite question)
Success is a very wide variety of things. For me it’s happiness and being content.
At the end of the day, I have my wife and my family and if my career fails, my hobbies fizzle out, I have a massive support system and a wife I wouldn’t give up for the world. That’s why I would consider myself successful.
What would you like to say to your fans about ‘London Calling’?
This one’s supposed to be fun. We need to bring back comedy for comedies sake. Go to the movie theater with friends, get your popcorn, sit back and relax and take a break from the crazy.
