Jeannie Seely to celebrate 50 years as Grand Ole Opry member

Seely was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry family on September 16, 1967. She is affectionately known as “Miss Country Soul.” This milestone makes Seely the sixth woman in the country genre’s history to be a Grand Ole Opry member for 50 years. She will be joining some elite company, including Loretta Lynn, Connie Smith, as well as the late country entertainers Minnie Pearl, Jean Shepard and Wilma Lee Cooper.

This past April, as Digital Journal reported, Seely was honored by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives with a resolution.

Last year, Seely’s Grammy-winning single “Don’t Touch Me” celebrated its 50-year anniversary since its release.
