Emmy-nominated and Tony award-winning actress Jane Krakowski chatted with this journalist on the blue carpet of the Human Rights Campaign Greater New York Dinner on Saturday, February 7th.

The HRC is the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) civil rights organization. Kelley Robinson serves President of the HRC.

It brought together hundreds of LGBTQ+ advocates and supporters for this event, which was held at the Marriott Marquis Times Square in Manhattan.

First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt once said: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” This quote applies to Jane Krakowski.

“I am so honored to be here at this event,” Krakowski exclaimed. “These are my people! I adore this community; they have given so much to me.”

“I feel honored to be here tonight because this community has meant so much to me, and I will always be a forever ally and advocate,” she expressed.

Jane Krakowski — The 2026 HRC Honoree for ‘Ally for Equality Award’

Krakowski was honored with the HRC’s “Ally for Equality Award” for her dynamic work as a performer and ally in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights.

“Here we are in 2026, and the government has again turned its back on this community,” Krakowski said.

“Even worse, they’re actively attacking it. Trans kids are being targeted by legislation designed to erase them. Books are being ripped off from library shelves. Hate speech is being amplified by those in power fueling rising hate crimes,” she elaborated.

“I am watching this community respond with the same defiance, with the same solidarity and the same insistence on being seen that I first witnessed all those years ago,” Krakowski observed.

“You refused to be silent when the government turned its back. You refuse to hide when the world tells you to be ashamed. You refuse to stop making art, making history and making your lives full and loud,” she expanded.

“Once again, the government is not supporting the community, so we need to have as many loud voices as we can to support them and give them all the backing we can,” Krakowski acknowledged.

‘Oh, Mary!’ on Broadway

Most recently, Krakowski starred in the Tony award-winning play “Oh, Mary!” on Broadway where she played the lead role of Mary Todd Lincoln, which was a thrilling experience for the veteran TV and stage actress.

Krakowski starred opposite her longtime colleague and friend Cheyenne Jackson, who played Mary’s Teacher.

Working with Cheyenne Jackson

On working with Cheyenne Jackson, Krakowski remarked, “Cheyenne is a dream! We have been very dear friends for a long, long time. It was lovely to be reunited with him on Broadway again.”

Closing thoughts on the HRC

Krakowski concluded about the HRC, “I hope people put their support and love behind this community, which means so much to so many!”
