Interview: Will Hoge talks upcoming ‘Small Town Dreams’ album (Includes interview)

It will be released independently on April 7 via his record label, Cumberland Recordings/Thirty Tigers. “I write a bunch and songs tend to group themselves together. This one started to take shape around those experiences that I had growing up in a small town, and we built everything around that,” he said.

Regarding the success of his new single “Middle of America,” he said, “That feels great. It’s always good to have a song out there and working, and I am very excited about it.”

Unlike his previous three albums, which he produced himself, he collaborated with producer Marshall Altman on this project, who worked with such musicians as Frankie Ballard, Eric Paslay and Marc Broussard. “It was awesome. He is one of those producers who is able to bring something unique in every artist,” he said.

His latest single’s music video was filmed in one shot in the historic downtown square of Gallatin, Tennessee. It was produced by Gear Steven Creative, which has worked with such mega-stars as Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake. “It took us seven or eight tries to get it right, and it was a cool thing to be a part of,” Hoge said. “Marshall was able to define who he is and what he is doing. He helped me find some new things that I was never able to do before, and he did a great job at that.”

“Middle Of America” was recorded by Hoge in Nashville’s iconic RCA Studio A and it garnered rave reviews from music critics, including Digital Journal, as well as radio and fans.

Throughout his career, Hoge has appeared on such shows as Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Early Show, The Late Show with David Letterman and Fox & Friends.
