Interview: Wil talks new single ‘What Are We Waiting For,’ future (Includes interview)

On his latest single, “What Are We Waiting For” (Jose Nuñez remix), he said, “I was writing a new single and I was thinking about the important things in life. It is very important that you live in the moment, and you have to reach out for it and believe in yourself, without waiting. Randy Jackson and I thought it would be a great idea to have it out in dance style. We had so much fun in the studio working together. There was so much laughing.”

Wil performed at the Boy Meets Girl party for New York Fashion Week, and tonight will be performing at the Malan Breton Cocktail Party for New York Fashion Week. “The people out here are so fun. They were enjoying themselves, and it was a great form of connection. It was very memorable and everybody was having a good time. This was my first time performing in New York,” he said. “Meeting Malan in person was really nice. He was so genuine and authentic.”

An international pop sensation from Asia, Wil is based in Spain. His hit single “Hola” was recorded in English, Spanish and Mandarin and was well-received from a commercial standpoint. His follow-up single “SMDH” was nominated in the Hollywood Music In Media Awards in 2014, and he was nominated for both “Male Pop Artist of the Year” and “International Artist of the Year,” proving that he is a true force to be reckoned with. “It feels like a kid in a roller coaster ride. You are very excited for it and you don’t know what is coming up and you are enjoying the process,” he said.

Regarding his future plans, he said, “I am writing new songs right now. We have plans to put new singles out, and we are touring around the globe for a little bit with Randy, and it’s awesome.”

He listed Sia, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift as his dream female duet choices.
