SEVDALIZA is a singer-songwriter, record producer, visual artist, social influencer, and director. She spoke about her new music and being a part of the digital age.

How did “Maria Magdalena” come about?

“Maria Magdalena” was born from a deep fascination with the duality of strength and vulnerability.

Throughout history, Maria Magdalena has been misunderstood and misrepresented, much like many women who dare to exist beyond societal expectations. I wanted to capture that energy in this song.

What inspires your music and songwriting?

My music often reflects my own journey, embracing strength in the complexities of womanhood. It’s about connection, about building a space where vulnerability feels both powerful and unapologetic.

How does it feel to be an artist in the digital age?

It’s a double-edged sword. On one hand, technology has made music more accessible than ever, allowing independent artists like me to connect with a global audience without industry gatekeepers.

At the same time, it has created an overwhelming flood of content, where music can feel disposable.

What do your plans for the future include?

I’m really excited to go on tour this era with The Messiah Tour, which has 4 dates announced so far across LA, NYC, São Paulo, Mexico City, and more dates coming soon.

The music and tour will include more art, experimentation, and ways to connect with people on a soul level. I’m always evolving, so I don’t limit myself to one path.

What is your advice for young and emerging artists?

Protect your vision. The world will try to mold you, but your greatest strength is your uniqueness.

What does the word success mean to you?

Success is freedom. It’s the ability to create without compromise, to live with your truth, and to leave something meaningful behind.

What would you like to say to your fans about “Maria Magdalena”?

I want them to feel empowered when they listen to it. To embrace their complexity, their contradictions, and their strength. We are all capable of rewriting our own narratives.
