Interview: Sarah Miles discusses new single ‘Addictive’ (Includes interview)

An Atlanta-based singer-songwriter, Miles released her new single “Addictive” on June 30. “I actually wrote the song a couple of years ago, and I was always interested in it, but I never recorded it. It turned into a whole new song and I love the way it came together. I’m super-excited about it,” she said. “There is more great music to come. We just finished working on one other song and I hope to have that out in the summer.”

The song is about a one-sided love, where one person in the relationship is essentially addicted to a person that doesn’t love them back. This relationship is not a healthy one but they go back for more.

Her vocals have earned her comparisons to such female vocalists as Christina Perri, Sara Bareilles, Ingrid Michaelson and Taylor Swift.

Her song, “Something About You” won numerous songwriting awards in Nashville, Tennessee, and was featured on NBC’s reality singing competition The Voice. “That song I wrote many years ago, but for some reason, it has done really well,” she said. “It is really cool that it has been doing so well. When I wrote it, I was in some form of teenage love and I wrote it about a crush that I had. It was about an exciting new love that I was discovering. It has a catchy, feel-good vibe to it. That particular song was a happy one.”

She has shared the stage with such noteworthy musical acts as Rachel Platten, Sister Hazel, and Tyler Hilton, among others. “That was so cool. Opening up for Sister Hazel was one of my most memorable experiences. I got to play in Orlando, Florida, at the House of Blues, and it was just a huge crowd and I waked out there with my guitar, so it was a huge rush and so much fun,” she said.

Her dream duet partners are Maren Morris, Sara Bareilles and Kelsea Ballerini. “They both have great personalities and I love their music,” she said.
