Interview: Sander van Doorn talks new track ‘Raise Your Hands Up’ (Includes interview)

Sander is drawn to electronic music since it has become a way of life for a love of people. “People wake up, go to bed, exercise, have fun or get cheered up to electronic music. I think it’s just amazing to see what the impact of music can be on people, and I’m very proud to be part of it,” he said.

His new track “Raise Your Hands Up” is a collaboration with the legends of Chocolate Puma, and it all started on The Groove Cruise. “We spoke to each other over there and we decided to get in the studio sometime soon. Not long after making the promise, we actually got in the studio and produced ‘Raise Your Hands Up’ in one day,” he said.

Each day, Sander is motivated by the different styles and genres in music. “I listen to a lot of different genres every day and it just inspires me to produce new music, and of course, the massive support from my fan-base together with the amazing crowds at the places I perform,” he said.

Regarding his plans for the future, he said, “I’m not planning to stop anytime soon and I’m currently trying to merge some of my old sounds into my new productions. Moby recently asked me to remix ‘Natural Blues’ which is a real serene track compared to ‘Raise Your Hands Up.’ This is an example of me making two completely different tracks, but still giving it that personal touch.”

For the esteemed Dutch DJ, it is very difficult to select a personal favorite track of his. “In every track I produce, I put a lot of effort and a part of my emotion into it., so I possibly couldn’t decide which track I like most,” he said.

On the future of electronic dance music scene, he said, “The current genres in dance music will collide more than ever which will result into new styles, and besides that, the industry will become less commercial which will result into a more critical crowd.”

For aspiring DJs and producers, he recommended that they listen to as many different musical styles as they can, in an effort to draw their inspirations from those experiences. “The next step is to create your own identity within or outside of these genres. Being unique and creating your own identity is the key to become a recognized DJ or producer,” he said.

When asked about his proudest professional moments, he responded, “I’m still very happy that I started a career in the music industry, which has brought me to a lot of great accomplishments in life. I remember my first release on vinyl and my first golden record like it happened yesterday. I couldn’t be more thankful.”

For his loyal fans, he concluded, “Without the worldwide support of my fans, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Thank you all.”
