Interview: Robert Scott Wilson of ‘Days of Our Lives’ is ‘finding peace and embracing it’

Robert Scott Wilson of the Peacock daytime drama “Days of Our Lives” chatted about the most recent storylines on the hit soap opera, and some of his latest endeavors.

Robert Scott Wilson of the Peacock daytime drama “Days of Our Lives” chatted about the most recent storylines on the hit soap opera, and some of his latest endeavors.

Wilson is known for his portrayal of Alex Kiriakis on “Days of Our Lives,” and in the past, he played Ben Weston.

Wilson on the Alex and Stephanie storyline

On the current storyline on the show (where Alex is partnered with Stephanie Johnson), Wilson remarked, “It has been fun. I am excited to see how the fans react to it, and everything. We have been working hard.”

“Working with Abigail Klein is the best; she is my partner in crime, here. It is nice to be back together,” he admitted.

“It is always great getting to work with her; Abigail is a sweetheart. She might be Alex’s one true pairing, so it’s a pleasure to work with her again,” he added.

Wilson on ‘Eligible Bachelor’ storyline

“Also, doing the ‘Eligible Bachelor’ storyline was a blast,” he admitted. “I was previously auctioned off on a show back when I did the ‘All My Children’ reboot when I played Petey Cortlandt.”

“Fast forward 11 or 12 years later, I am getting auctioned off on ‘Days of Our Lives’ in my home base in a ‘Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!’ style,” he noted.

Wilson listed three-time Emmy nominee Billy Flynn as the actor that he would like to do more scenes with on “Days of Our Lives.”

“I would love to work more with my boy Billy,” Wilson said. “We’ve spent a lot of time together in the past and we always make a splash when we work together, so I would love to work with him more. Billy and I have had a very parallel journey.”

2024 ‘Day of Days’ fan event in Los Angeles

The 2024 “Day of Days” fan event, celebrated the 60th season of “Days of Our Lives,” and it took place on November 2nd, 2024 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California.

“It was great. It is always a success to a degree,” he said. “It is a long day but it’s always a blast to see the fans. It is free for everybody, so it is nice to see everyone and get some quick one-on-one time with the fans.”

“I love being on this show. I hope its around for six more decades,” he exclaimed. “Peacock is the best streaming service in the world, and it’s surrounded by all great shows, actors, and good company. We are right where we need to be.”

Wilmington, North Carolina fan event this September

On September 27th, Wilson will be a part of the “Team Rob Wilson” 10th anniversary celebration fan event in Wilmington, North Carolina, hosted by Amanda Ramirez, where the proceeds go towards South LA Cafe.

“I am very excited because I’ve never been over there to North Carolina,” he said. “I am really stoked to do this event.”

“I can’t wait to get some one-on-one time with the fans and get to know everybody, and build a bond that continues. I value them growing up there. We will grab a drink, talk ‘Days of Our Lives,’ and talk life. It will be great to see some new faces in Wilmington,” he added.

Wilson had great words about the fan event organizer Amanda Ramirez. “Amanda is a sweetheart; she has had my back for many years now,” Wilson said.

“Amanda has ran one of my fan pages, and she has been an amazing fan and person. She doesn’t miss a beat, she’s on top of her game, and I love it. I’ve gotten to meet her a few times now, and I am excited for her to put her on first event,” Wilson elaborated.

“Let’s get everyone rolling over there, so we can all hang out in North Carolina. Amanda is the best; I am really proud of her,” he added.

Wilson on the importance of South LA Cafe

Wilson is happy to support South LA Cafe because they are on a mission to fight racial, social, economic, and food inequity through coffee, community, and connection. “I think what they do is fantastic,” Wilson said. “One of my good friends is a big part of that, and I’ve always wanted to help him. In fact, we did that a few times during the COVID pandemic.”

South LA Cafe is committed to creating equal access to fresh and healthy options for the South LA community that can be found in other neighborhoods, but with pricing that is affordable.

In addition, South LA Cafe is committed to becoming a central hub in the community where everyone will feel a sense of belonging. “South Cafe LA has a bunch of great people over there,” he noted.

Wilson on his partnership with ‘Aura’ watch

Wilson is thrilled to have partnered with the “Aura” watch. “The watch is going really well,” he admitted. “I am a part owner of that company, and we hit a little over one million watched a few months back, so we are track to do well this year. We have new ones dropping soon.”

“Hopefully, we will do some big collaborations in the future. It is really doing its thing; it has been a pleasure,” he added.

Star Image Entertainment fan event in Nashville this October

This October, Wilson will be a part of the “Days Of Our Lives” Dinner/Dance and Acoustic Concert on October 4th and 5th in Nashville, Tennessee, which is hosted by Penny MacGregor and Star Image Entertainment. “I am excited to go back to Nashville,” he said. “It would be a year to the date when I was last there, so I am excited to go back.”

“Penny is a sweetheart, and hers is one of the only events that I agreed to continue to do. She is trustworthy, and she always has good people at the events. I will always be happy to do Penny’s events,” he explained.

“We are going to have a good time and a blast in Nashville because it’s a great place. We will have good music, good drinks and good people. We will have a fantastic time,” he added.

Wilson on Emmy and Tony winner Eric Nelsen

Wilson spoke highly about Emmy and Tony winner Eric Nelsen. “I speak to Eric quite often; he is the best,” he said.

“We worked together on ‘All My Children,’ and recently, a picture of him and I popped up and I sent it to him. I told him how proud of him I was, and he said the same thing about me,” he acknowledged.

“We were roommates and we shared a dressing room, and we worked hard over there. Hopefully, Eric and I can get back on the same screen someday,” Wilson elaborated.

He is thrilled that his friend and colleague Brandon Beemer is back on the Peacock daytime series “Days of Our Lives” as Shawn Brady. “Brandon [Beemer] has been great. It is nice to have him back here. Brandon has been one of my good pals for many years now,” Wilson said.

Wilson on three-time Emmy winner Cady McClain

Wilson praised the talent of Cady McClain. “Cady McClain is great,” Wilson exclaimed.

“Even though I haven’t seen Cady in a while, I loved having her here on ‘Days of Our Lives.’ She was one of the originals I worked with back in my ‘All My Children Days’,” he recalled.

‘Papa’ film by Dan Israely

For Wilson, the Dan Israely movie “Papa” is still the “gift that keeps on giving,” seven years later (after its theatrical release). “It is still going strong; it is still out there,” Wilson said.

Best advice ever been given

On the best advice he has ever been given, he revealed, “Have Faith Over Fear.” “That runs true in everything,” he admitted.

Best thing about being his age

Wilson opened up about the best thing about being his age. “I am pretty well-experienced and I am still open to new chapters and new lessons. I am pretty happy. I think I am thriving at 37! I think I am feeling pretty good.”

Wilson remembers Drake Hogestyn

Wilson fondly remembered the late but great Drake Hogestyn, who passed away from pancreatic cancer back in September of 2024.

“Drake was one of the greatest storytellers and a true inspiration on-screen and off-screen,” Wilson said.

“Drake was one of the best men I’ve met in a very long time. He was an exceptional human being and just a really great man in general. He is very sorely missed here, for sure. I miss his energy,” Wilson explained.

Success

Regarding his definition of the word success, Wilson said, “Success means being able to take care of myself and my family, as well as having peace of mind while I am doing it.”

Message for his fans and supporters

For his fans, he expressed, “I love them and I try to show my love to them as best as I can. I always stay grateful, and I hope they continue to follow my wild journey (not only on this show) but on any project I have coming up and with my brand.”

“I really value their support, and I hope to give them the same attention that they give me,” he concluded.
