On playing the lead role in Paramount’s upcoming feature Chocolate City, he said, “It feels amazing. The movie has a great storyline about the American struggle: the lengths any of us will go to take care of our families. I take the projects I choose to heart because young people and families make up my core audience. I love my fans and feel responsible for the roles I pick. I want them to know I share their voice.”
His role has earned him comparisons to Magic Mike, which ought to be taken as a compliment. “Magic Mike better watch out! Our movie is awesome and we set the bar very high! Our film is entertaining, fun, thrilling, and best of all it’s surprisingly funny. I don’t know how you swing around all that sexy chocolate and still make the audience laugh, but we accomplished all that with a great story-line.”
He worked on this project with director Jean-Claude La Marre. “Jean Claude and I are the new Dynamic Duo. I hope to make 10 films with him to add to our libraries because he is a genius. He took Chocolate City and made it clean, completely eliminating any cringe factor. Our film has a moral compass that everyone can appreciate, and everyone can feel comfortable watching this movie with loved ones,” he said.
Regarding his plans for the future, he said with a laugh, “Personally, I’m trying to get married. Oh, professionally, I just want to entertain and take care of the world. I love people and I care about the social health of all of us. I’m taking my low-intensity 10 minute secret workout and making HighwayFit available to all. No weights. No gym. No travel.”
His advice for aspiring actors is as follows. “Train everyday, score big jobs, and tell the director ‘I wanna work with Robert Ri’chard.’ I believe that when you’re around dedicated professionals, it’s contagious. You take on all the positive attributes of the people you hang around. You take on all the negative attributes too, so pick friends that you admire,” he said.
He revealed that his daily motivation stems from God first, and it is followed by a few other philosophies such as follows. “Train, until it’s your habit. Scratch that until it’s your reputation! Pull one with you as you climb. Ask the expert. There’s no substitute for hard work,” he concluded.
