Veteran electronic music star Paul van Dyk talks about his new song “Power” and the NATURE ONE Festival in Germany.
“Power” serves as the official anthem for the NATURE ONE Festival in Germany.
On his new track “Power,” he said, “I was asked by a festival called NATURE ONE to basically produce a celebratory anthem for its 30th anniversary.”
“This was a great honor because it’s a phenomenal festival, and I’ve performed there so many times, so I really have a personal connection to the festival,” he said.
“I wanted to create something powerful with an amazing drive (that the festival represents), and that’s how the track came about,” he explained.
NATURE ONE Festival
NATURE ONE Festival will run from July 31st to August 2nd in Germany. “This was one of the first-ever outdoor festivals for electronic music,” he noted.
“It has an amazing history of presenting music; the people go there because they love the music; they fall into this festival vibe and they enjoy it, and it’s not just about raising your iPhones and taking pictures,” he elaborated.
2025 World Tour
On his 2025 World Tour, van Dyk remarked, “It has been phenomenally, positively crazy. I’ve been to Asia quite a bit at the beginning of the year, and to the United States, South America, Germany and Europe as well.”
“Next week, I am going to Australia, for two weeks so everything is running well,” he noted. “My job has a lot of flying involved; that’s true.”
Brooklyn, New York show
On November 29th, Paul van Dyk will be performing at 99 Scott Studio in Brooklyn, New York.
“I am very excited,” he said. “New York is always a very special place for me.”
“Back in the very early ‘90s, I remember being one of the resident DJs with DJ Keoki at Disco 2000. There is always a very special dynamic in New York. I remember going to all of these different places and feeling all of these different vibes,” he recalled.

Greece
On his recent concert in Greece, van Dyk stated, “I played in Athens, Greece three weeks ago. Greece has changed a lot lately.”
“A lot of the shows that are in Athens are now by the beach, so there is not so much going on within the city now. Basically, once a year I play at the venue, which is right by the sea and it’s just beautiful there,” he elaborated.
Pre-COVID, he shared that he used to play in Mykonos at Paradise Club and Cavo Paradiso Club.
‘Eternity’
Speaking of Greece, he discussed his song “Eternity” (where he collaborated with Adam Young of Owl City). “I made the basic composing of that track in Mykonos,” he revealed.
Future plans
On his future plans, he said, “Despite looking forward to coming back to New York, of course, I have a few more festivals to play this summer, and in two weeks I will be going to Australia. Then, there will be more Asian dates, more U.S. shows, more U.K. and more Germany.”
“I am just really happy to be able to play this music from the new album ‘This World is Ours’ because that’s what I am touring for right now. People are really actually enjoying this new music, and that makes me really happy as an artist,” he elaborated.
Stage of his life
On the title of the current chapter of his life, Paul van Dyk disclosed, “Happier than Ever.”
“I am just happy doing what I’ve always loved to do,” he admitted. “I couldn’t do that without all of the fans. I am just thankful and grateful.”
Album concept for ‘This World is Ours’
On the concept for his latest studio offering “This World is Ours,” he said, “The idea behind the album and the topic behind it is how we deal with artificial intelligence (AI) in our everyday life and in creating art.”
“Basically, these thoughts and creative momentums went into making this music,” he added.
Advice for young and aspiring electronic musicians
For young and emerging electronic artists, he said, “A lot of people that come up these days are basically talented TikTok content creators rather than musicians. So, if you are really into electronic music follow your heart, follow what you love, and do exactly that.”
“If your character shines through the music, then this is what other people will be able to connect to,” he acknowledged.
“If you are doing something fake, something blind, or something that doesn’t connect with anyone, then you become one of many,” he added.
Electronic music in the next five years
On the future of electronic music in the next five years, he said, “The part of electronic music that I care about will do what it has always done: develop forward, progress, be interesting and exciting, and it will evolve.”
Superpower of choice
When asked about his superpower of choice, he responded, “Stretching my hand down and I would calm people down, and make them see the complexity of the situation and make sense of it.”
AI on the future of the industry
He shared his thoughts on AI on the future of the music industry.
“With AI, it’s not just about our music business,” he said. “Everything will essentially be impacted by it, and we need to learn how to cope with that. AI is something that it is intellectually superior to us, and we become the servants to AI.”
Favorite mottos to live by
On his favorite mottos to live by, he shared, “Being liberal but in a philosophical sense… not in a political sense.”
“There are some general rules and foundations of understanding that we all live by but within this, we can all live our life and be happy,” he explained.
Best thing about being his age
“Basically, understanding the concept that I just described above,” he said with a sweet laugh.

Paul van Dyk shares updates on his health
Paul van Dyk shares updates of his heath. Back in February of 2016, van Dyk was seriously injured after falling from the stage during a performance at the A State of Trance festival in Utrecht, Germany, and he noted that he is “very grateful” to be alive.
“I am still not 100 percent,” he said. “I’m what people call a ‘pain patient.’ I’m always at a constant level of pain because I had injuries to the brain and a few parts up there (the analytical center).”
“My brain tells my body, ‘you are in pain,’ and it will always do so. Unfortunately, that will stay with me forever. Not everything is fine, but I am just very grateful that I am still here walking around,” he added.

Success
On his definition of the word success, “When I create something and I make music, that piece of music puts a smile on somebody else’s face, and that’s a success.”
Message for his fans
For his loyal fans, he expressed, “I am just grateful for all of their support, and for all their amazing well wishes. Without any of them, I wouldn’t be able to still make music or still do what I love doing so much.”
“I am eternally grateful to them. What is great about electronic music is that it doesn’t have any age boundaries. If you fall in love with this music, you fall in love with it, and it stays that way forever,” he said, effusively.

Closing thoughts on ‘Power’
For fans and listeners, he said about “Power,” “I want people to have a great time.”
“Power, force, motion and drive. Just enjoy it and have a great time. If it puts a smile on your face, that’s all I wanted to do,” he concluded.
