Actress Michele Dawson chatted about “Halloween Ends,” which will be released on October 14.
“I had such an incredibly wonderful experience working on ‘Halloween Ends’,” she said. “It was what dreams are made of! From the moment I arrived on location, I felt the comradery of a close-knit crew who was excited to be making their third movie out of the ‘Halloween’ trilogy rebooted by David Gordon Green in 2018.”
She continued, “They worked happily together like a well-oiled machine. Everyone down to the Covid coordinator was just a joy to be around. You could feel the whole “Halloween Ends” team’s desire to make the best film possible. Speaking of David, he is one of the kindest and most fun directors! A wonderful collaborator, he allowed me the freedom to play and develop additional layers of Nurse Deb.”
“His creativity sparked so many standout moments. Lastly, I adored my fellow castmates who happen to be ridiculously talented actors as well as enjoyable humans, and I have kept close contact with many since wrapping. I would happily relive those 14-hour days any time,” she added.
In “Halloween Ends,” she plays Nurse Deb. “I loved how naive yet calculating Nurse Deb can be. This duplicitous nature allowed me to create moments where she’s so completely in her world which made her incredibly fun to play,” she said.
Regarding her daily motivations as an actress, she said, “I am inspired by details. Whether I’m expressing joy, pain, frustration, anger, confusion, etc., I desire to build performances that represent all the shades and depth a moment calls for.”
The digital age
On being an actress in the digital age, she said, “There are so many positives. The sheer number of eyes on any given niche comes to mind. For example, I filmed a fight scene and posted it on YouTube, and it got a bunch of views. You’re able to create stories that you want to tell with your friends and make them available.”
“Also, you may have heard that ‘Halloween Ends’ will be released in the theatres and streaming on Peacock on the same day, Oct 14. I think this is genius. I remember the days of having to wait until my favorite movies came out on DVD to watch them over and over. With ‘Halloween Ends,’ people will be able to go see it in the theatre and then watch it every day on Peacock with their friends,” she elaborated.
On her future plans, she shared, “My near plans involve working with one of my dear friends, Patrick Durham, on his upcoming films this fall. Separately, I’m in talks for a series in the future as well, but I’ll have to elaborate later.”
Dawson had great words about the guys of the Positive Impact Movement. “I love those guys,” she exclaimed. “I was training alongside James and Nathan just last night. It’s always a good time whenever I’m around Positive Impact Movement. They have so much energy and are incredibly talented! You can’t help but laugh and smile being around them.”
“Also, they have been vital for me in my growth in partnered acrobatics,” she said. “When I first started Acro, I used to take a bunch of James’ dance-lift and hand-to-hand classes. James is always a pleasure to fly on. Nathan and Andreas have been so supportive in spotting us (my Acro partner, Jon Rea, and I) as well as giving us pointers and feedback when we’re trying new adventurous skills. I’m in the habit of trusting these guys with my life. Then, Travis, what a fun, daring, and encouraging guy.”
She defined the word “success” as “being content no matter her circumstances.”
Dawson concluded about “Halloween Ends,” “This film is a 45-year-old showdown in the making! Let there be no doubt, it is the conclusion to slam the books on the longest character/actor pairing in Hollywood History. Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode and Michael Meyers bring it. Hard. It’s an epic and surprising chill ride-thrill-ride of the movie, and you’ll be watching it for the next 45 years and screaming the whole time.”
