Emmy-nominated actress Martha Madison of “Days of Our Lives” opened up about her latest storyline on “Days of Our Lives.”

Madison plays the role of Belle Brack on the hit NBC soap opera “Days of Our Lives.”

She opened up about being a part of the Belle, Shawn, and EJ storyline on the show. “It has been really fun to see the fan responses,” she admitted. “It is always fun to do something different than what you are accustomed to doing, so it was great.”

Madison had great words about working with her co-stars Dan Feuerriegel (EJ DiMera) and Brandon Beemer (Shawn Brady). “I love working with Dan, he is really very smart and he likes to rehearse and I do too. It is really nice to have somebody that really cares as much as he does, and Dan wants to make the scenes great. We really connected right away. I think there is a natural level of camaraderie and chemistry there from the get-go,” she said.

“This storyline has really given me and Brandon [Beemer] some meaty material,” she said about their characters having conflicts on the show. “Brandon and I are so close, we go way back together. It is really fun to try new things, and really stretch the characters a little bit. Brandon really excels with more of that heavy material so it has been really fun to see him shine.”

On the greatest lesson that the acting profession has ever taught her, Madison said, “To be a good actor you need to be a really great listener. This has also served me very well in my recruitment career, my hospitality career, and as a parent and person. Listening and connecting with people are the things that you learn the most as an actor.”

She noted that her mother was a fan of the following motto: “To thine own self be true.” “We had it taped across our refrigerator my entire youth, and we had many conversations about what that really meant as I was growing up. Now, as an adult, I try to teach that to my eight-year-old daughter as well,” she said.

On the title of the current chapter of her life, Madison responded, “New Beginnings.” “This year has really been about starting from a very good place,” she said.

Aside from acting, Madison revealed that she also serves as Vice President of the One Haus hospitality service. “I am now running a hospitality recruitment firm based out of New York so that has been my primary focus. I’ve spent my entire career in the restaurant and hospitality industry so it’s a great fit,” she said.

She defined success as “being able to live a stress-free and happy life doing what she loves and spending time with her family.”

For her dedicated “Days of Our Lives” fans, Madison said, “Thank you for sticking with us all of these years. We hope there are many more years of stories to tell.”
