On his new trance track “Stellar,” Sixma said, “The idea came to me on a long flight back home from Indonesia. I couldn’t sleep, so I started to think about doing a follow-up to my track ‘Character.’ I came up with a melody and hummed and recorded it on my phone, people must have thought I was crazy. When I got to the studio the day after, the beginning of ‘Stellar’ was born.”
While he is uncertain as to whether or not there will be a music video for this single, he noted that his two follow-singles are “definitely” going to have cool music videos.
When asked about where he sees electronic dance music in the next five years, he said, “I feel it will still have a very strong presence in the music industry, globally. I think we can expect a big growth in Asia over the next few years.”
He has had the pleasure to visit Greece, while on holiday, yet never as a DJ. “It’s a beautiful country with a culturally-rich history and I hope to play there soon,” he said.
A Dutch DJ, Sixma just finished a brand new collaboration with Andrew Rayel, that will be out in the near future and he is close to finishing two vocal tracks. “People have been asking me about doing some vocal tracks and I finally found the right vocals and artists to work with. Tour-wise, I’m going to be very busy this summer, super excited that I’m playing TomorrowWorld in September,” he said.
Sixma revealed that he will be back in New York this month, where he will be playing at Space Ibiza New York. He is also excited about the Top 100 DJs poll ranking this year by DJ Magazine. “I’m looking forward to see how the people have voted this year. Also, I’m very thankful for everyone who included me in their Top 5,” he said, graciously.
For his electronic dance music fans, Sixma concluded, “Thank you for making it possible for me to do what I love best.”
