His EP was recorded earlier this year, and it features five songs, all of which were written, produced and performed by Ledinsky. Other players on the EP include Dave Sitek from the group TV On The Radio, Erik Hassle and David Sandstrom from the band Refused.
Regarding his protest anthem song, entitled “DonaldTrumpMakesMeWannaSmokeCrack,” he said, “All of the songs on the EP came about in the same way. Usually, I write songs for myself, and it is a very quick process. I write a song when I wake up in the morning, and if it’s okay, then I will send it to my friends. I wrote the Drumpf song about three or four weeks ago.”
His songwriting is inspired by the political climate lately. “I don’t think people in our generation are aware of how things can turn out. Right now, that inspires me,” he said.
Ledinsky is influenced by his father, who was a jazz musician, as well as such diverse artists as Neil Young and Kendrick Lamar.
He is signed to Atlantic Records, which is flattering for Ledinsky. “I have always been a huge fan of that label. It is something exceptional in the music industry. I couldn’t be happier, and I actually love it,” he said.
Regarding his future plans, he said, “Music is so important for me. I’m trying to have fun making it, and I am fortunate enough to be able to write songs, and people love them or hate them.”
