Interview: Handsome Ghost talks upcoming show at Mercury Lounge (Includes interview)

Handsome Ghost is the creative effort of Bronx English high school teacher turned songwriter Tim Noyes. They saw viral success when its first demo “Blood Stutter,” which hit the Spotify charts and racked up over 12 million plays, followed shortly by the release of the Steps EP in 2015.

They will be playing at Mercury Lounge in New York on December 8. “I am really excited. It’s our first headlining show in New York. I love to play there. It’s going to be a really fun night,” Noyes said. “I’ve been there many times and I’ve always had such a blast. We haven’t played there, but I’m looking forward to it. I think it’s going to be a special night.”

On their plans for the future, he said, “We are working on our first album here in Massachusetts. It’s been a really unique process so far. I am excited where the songs are headed. I think it’s going to be a big step forward for us.”

Handsome Ghost recently released their new EP The Brilliant Glow on September 16 via Photo Finish Records. He shared that their stage name, Handsome Ghost, started as a joke, yet it fits them sonically.

Each day, Noyes is motivated by his love for writing songs. “Beyond anything else, it is my No. 1 passion,” he said. “Right now, I’m excited since we are starting to work on this album.”

He listed Allie McDonald from EXES as his dream female duet choice. “I am really obsessed with their EP,” he said, prior to naming Stevie Nicks his all-time favorite female duet partner.
