‘Samantha’s Friends’ benefit in Lakewood Ranch, Florida
On September 15th, Hadley performed the ’40s standard “That Old Black Magic” at the Samantha’s Friends benefit fundraiser in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, where the proceeds help multiple nonprofit organizations.
This year’s theme had a “Golden Age of Hollywood” theme to it, so her song choice was quite fitting. “I was really happy with the ‘Golden Age’ theme this year because it allowed me to blend right into the event,” Hadley said.
“Everybody was so kind, sweet and fulfilling at Samantha’s Friends in a way I didn’t think was possible. This charity supports so many great causes. It has honestly healed a part of me that I didn’t know needed to be healed. It has been wonderful,” she acknowledged.
On being a part of her inaugural Samantha’s Friends event, she said, “It was overwhelming in the best kind of way. The atmosphere was perfect. Meeting Sammy for the first time was wonderful.”
“There were so many stars and wonderful people here, and I do feel like I have been adopted into the Samantha’s Friends family,” she noted.
Performing opposite Kristos Andrews
At the “Samantha’s Friends” event, Hadley was fortunate to perform an acting scene from the multi-Emmy award-winning drama series “The Bay” opposite 11-time Emmy winner Kristos Andrews, where they were directed by showrunner Gregori J. Martin. “It was terrifying to perform opposite Kristos, but it turned out great,” she admitted.
“Kristos was so sweet about the entire thing,” she said. “For every question that I had for him, he had an answer, and that spoke to the humanity of the performers. Kristos made everything feel normal, authentic, and organic. I am happy he did that for me,” Hadley elaborated.
Dream duet choices in music
In the dream duets department, Hadley revealed that she would love to do something with Christian Borle of the musical “Something Rotten!” The same holds true for Jason Dean of the musical “Heathers.” “These would be great duet choices,” she admitted.
The digital age
On being a singer in the digital age, Hadley said, “It makes it easier for me to learn more music. I’ve always been interested in music ever since I was a little girl.”
“Now, it has been a breeze to pick up and learn new music because everything is at your fingertips. I just love the digital age,” she added.
Stage of her life
On the title of the current chapter of her life, she said with a sweet laugh, “Strugglebus.”
“At the end of the day, we will get out of the strugglebus, and we will eventually thrive,” she explained.
Best advice that she has ever been given
Regarding the best advice that she has ever been given, she shared, “Everyone else’s opinions are not my business.” “Other people can think what they wany about me and it’s not my problem,” she said.
Superpower of choice
If she were to have any superpower, it would be “to fly.” “I would want big wings, especially since birds are the freest animals in the universe. They can go wherever they want, whenever they want, and I would want that superpower too,” she said.
Advice for young and aspiring artists and musicians
For young and aspiring artists and musicians, she encouraged them to “keep going.” “Never let anyone dull your shine. I was bullied a lot but I still do music. I still love what I do. If you are doing what yo love, then it is something worth doing.”
Best thing about being her age
On the best thing about being her age (21), she said, “People are starting to treat me like an adult.”
“Also, I can drink in front of my mom and she can’t say anything to me anymore,” she said with a sweet laugh.
Success
Hadley equates the word success with “happiness and contentment” in life.
“Monetary value is not an issue in my life. If I am happy, then I am successful, and that is all I will ever need,” she said.
Message for her supporters
For her supporters, Hadley expressed, “Thank you for everything you’ve ever done for me. I hope that I can give back to them as much as they have given to me.”
“I hope they can find success in their own lives too like I’ve found success through them,” she concluded.
