Interview: Drew Baldridge talks ‘Dirt on Us’ and New York concert (Includes interview)

On August 13, Baldridge will be performing at the Pennysaver Amphitheater in Farmingville on Long Island. “We are super-excited to come up there and play,” he said.

His album Dirt on Us features the lead single “Danya With Ya.” “It is exciting to think that we have a song that is getting ready to break in the Top 40. That is unbelievable. For me, it has always been my goal my whole life to get my music heard,” he said. “It is a super-exciting time right now. I just got to walk my first red carpet at the CMT Music Awards, and I had my Grand Ole Opry debut.”

Speaking of the Grand Ole Opry, Baldridge had a pleasant surprise happen during his debut performance. He had one of his biggest musical influences, Josh Turner, surprise him when he was paying homage to him with Turner’s song “Your Man.” “I had no idea that he was coming. I was just paying tribute to him, so I told that story from the Opry stage and I started singing ‘Your Man,’ and he came up out on stage and surprised me and I was so shocked. It was an amazing night,” Baldridge said.

Baldridge listed Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood as his dream female duet choices. Each day, Baldridge is motivated by his “great fans,” which tweet him and Facebook him on a daily basis. “I have people responding to my music, and if that doesn’t motivate you, I don’t know what will,” he said.
