Regarding the song selection process for his latest collection Spark, White said, “This record has taken me so long to get out. I’ve started writing songs for this for a long time. Some of the memories and thoughts came from my childhood. To narrow it down to 12 songs was absolutely just a huge task that was frustrating at times. I do believe that the hard process fashioned a piece of work that is very solid. I wanted to give the listener a soulful record that exemplified my southern roots in Alabama, and my Appalachian soul and my spiritual upbringing in church.”
His single “Livin’ The Dream” has been faring well on the radio airwaves. “I am feeling the love at radio. It’s doing good and everybody is enjoying it. With the song’s timing, it states that there are hard times and things that we will get through, and come out from the other side that make us stronger. It allows us to focus on what we have, instead of what we don’t have,” he said.
White noted that he does not have a favorite song on the album, especially since they are all “like children” to him.
On August 19, White will be opening for Zac Brown Band at Citi Field in Flushing, New York, the same venue where both artists performed last year, for a great turnout. “I’m a baseball guy so to be in that park is amazing for one, and to play that crowd again is just amazing. Also, to have an album release that day is over the top,” he said.
White listed country queens Dolly Parton and Miranda Lambert as his dream female duet choices.
