Angel’s forthcoming show, “The Supernaturalists,” kicks off on June 25 at Foxwoods Casino and Resort. “It’s very exciting,” Angel said. “You can expect the most unbelievable magic experience ever assembled on a stage. I’ve worked since 2005 evolving, developing and creating this show. I scattered the globe for the best of the best in the world of magic, and got the world’s greatest magicians in their respective disciplines. I got the world’s greatest illusionist, the world’s greatest escape artist, the world’s greatest street magician, the world’s greatest manipulator, the greatest novelty dog act, the world’s greatest mentalist and the world’s greatest female magician. It’s all together with an unprecedented cast and an unprecedented amount of illusions. There is more magic in this show than any show ever, including my own shows. The illusions are revolutionary, and I have been working for 15 years for some of these illusions. I am going to make surprise visits in this show unannounced, and I’ll be hosting the show via a live video feed. It’s really a completely unique experience and it has elements of pop culture and a DJ and an original music score. The lighting is the best lighting, and it has the most sophisticated technological state-of-the-art lighting system available. It is the most mind-blowing magic spectacle that the world has ever seen,” he elaborated.
Angel praised the nine talented magicians for their hard work ethic. “They have been nothing but amazing and they were open to work hard, learn, evolve and transform. It has been an amazing experience that has literally lasted for some time. We have been working seven days a week for 16 to 18 hours a day. I want to make sure that the people can expect the best when they see the Criss Angel brand. I want to over-deliver for them with ‘The Supernaturalists’,” he said. “I consider the magicians family, and this is family experience. It is an extravaganza and the whole family will love this show. It is so diverse, unique, different and it has something for everybody.”
He shared that his mother, Dimitra, and his entire family are doing well. “Everybody is great and they are excited. They are coming to see the premiere. We are going to have a wonderful time,” he said.
This past January, Angel performed four shows at The Paramount on Long Island as part of “Mindfreak Live” and it garnered a stellar review from Digital Journal, which dubbed him as a “masterful” entertainer. “Honestly, the ‘Mindfreak’ and ‘Believe’ shows are great, but ‘The Supernaturalists’ show is even better, as far as the magic goes. I literally directed my ass off, and I believe it is my best work to date. This goes way beyond any other ensemble show out there. This show is complete revolutionary, and there is something that goes beyond the magic that is so much deeper than just trick after trick after trick,” he said.
He added, “My goal is to be at the top. To get there is a lot easier than to remain at the top. For me, it’s about remaining relevant, reinventing myself, and being No. 1 for as long as I chose to be No. 1, and it takes a lot of hard work.”
Each day, Angel is motivated simply by his “love for creating” and his “love for working with talented people.” “God has blessed me so much with my career, and with the abundance of success that I have been able to have. For me, happiness is trying to give back and to give talented people the opportunity, and let their talent shine and let their star rise. If I can be a small part of that by giving them the platform to do it, then it’s a beautiful thing. It makes me happy,” he said.
The esteemed Greek-American magician revealed that physically, he is in good spirits. “I am in great physical health and I haven’t had a chance to think of anything else but work, work, work,” he said.
“I am grateful for all the love and support that I receive from the fans,” he said. “I try to create pieces of entertainment that I think they will appreciate and enjoy. I hope they get the opportunity to experience my latest creation, ‘The Supernaturalists’.”
His definition of the word success is “happiness in life.” “If I am happy, then I am successful. Money and fame do not equate to success. It’s the things that you can’t buy in life that make you successful. It’s all about love, health and happiness,” he concluded.
