Interview: Ashley Clark talks ‘Greyhound’ EP and Carrie Underwood (Includes interview)

On the song selection process for his Greyhound EP, he said, “I asked Mutt [Lange] what he thought about the songs and went with it. I always trust his input.”

Clark revealed that his personal favorite song on the EP is “Buy You A Beer.” His songwriting was inspired by relationships and his desire to have fun.

Regarding the filming of his music video for “Greyhound,” he said, “We shot the whole thing in one day. It was surreal riding a horse down Hollywood Boulevard. There were a lot of tourists taking pictures. It was something I’ll never forget.”

In the past, he was a part of Carrie Underwood’s band where he played fiddle. “It was such an amazing ride playing for Carrie for 2.5 years. She’s just been so amazing to me. I’ve learned a lot from her,” he said.

Clark was also a part of “The Next Great American Band,” which was a nerve-wrecking experience for Clark. “We always had to work up a new song and make it our own every week without a bass and drums, but it was exhilarating at the same time,” he said.

His plans for the future are to get out there, tour and make more music. His dream female duet choices include his former boss, Carrie Underwood, and country queen Reba. “One already came true with Carrie Underwood,” he acknowledged. “The second I would have to say is Reba, because she’s the mecca of female country singers.”

For his fans, he concluded, “Thank you so much for all your support. You guys are the reason I get to do this and I don’t take that for granted. I really appreciate it. I love you all.”
