Acclaimed rock group Imagine Dragons, fronted by Dan Reynolds, released their amazing studio album ‘Mercury – Act 1’ via KIDinaKORNER/Interscope Records. Digital Journal has the scoop.

It opens with the harking “My Life,” which instantly lures the listener in this collection. It is followed by the sassy and mid-tempo “Lonely,” and it is followed by their single “Wrecked,” which is filled with raw emotions and really tugs at the heartstrings.

Wrecked” is this journalist’s personal favorite tune on this album, and one can really hear lead singer Dan Reynolds’ heart on this delicate yet honest vocal performance.

It is followed by the nonchalant “Monday,” and the pensive “#1,” where the male narrator reflects on his journey of self-discovery.

“Easy Come Easy Go” is vivacious and extremely radio-friendly, which stands out lyrically and melodically. Dan Reynolds allows his rich, husky voice to shine on “Giants,” and it immediately breaks into the carefree “It’s Ok.”

Equally impressive is the uptempo, rocking, and unapologetic “Dull Knives,” which has a retro ’90s flair to it, and conversational lyrics that stand out by a mile. It continues with their refreshing and catchy radio single “Follow You.”

After the spitfire “Cutthroat,” it closes with the relevant “No Time For Toxic People,” which has a liberating vibe to it, and on a fitting note with the uplifting “One Day,” where they leave their listening audience wanting to hear more.

The Verdict

Overall, the new Imagine Dragons “Mercury – Act 1” is incredible, and Grammy-worthy in its own right. It deserves to earn Grammy nominations in the rock and alternative categories.

There is a lot of musical variety on this album, and it contains elements of pop-rock, alternative, adult contemporary, indie, and R&B/soul music. The band is not afraid to be sincere and vulnerable in this powerful musical effort. “Mercury – Act 1” garners an A rating.
