National anthem at Super Bowl to be performed by Idina Menzel

Menzel will be joined by Grammy winner John Legend (best known for his song “All of Me”) who will be singing “America The Beautiful” as part of this year’s Super Bowl festivities in Arizona. Their vocal performances will be televised worldwide on NBC prior to kickoff.

This marks Menzel’s Super Bowl debut. She is best known for playing Elphaba on the Broadway musical “Wicked,” as well as Queen Elsa in Disney’s animated motion picture “Frozen,” for which she sang its theme song, “Let It Go.”

Other female vocalists that have sung the national anthem in the past include Alicia Keys, Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, Vanessa Williams, Faith Hill, Mariah Carey, The Dixie Chicks, Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Jewel, among others.

This summer, Menzel will be embarking on her world tour.

She is starring in the Broadway musical “If/Then,” and the show will be closing its curtains on March 22.
