This live-action series adaptation is based on the hit Japanese manga Kakegurui by Homura Kawamoto and Toru Naomura.

‘Bet’ on Netflix

“Honestly, it was amazing and a whirlwind. It felt like a very interesting, surreal, vivid, and lucid dream, so it has been wild.”

Playing Michael in ‘Bet’

Cardinal plays the mysterious character Michael. “I thought Michael was so nuanced and complex,” he admitted. “Michael has this really interesting core to him that I loved exploring. There were a lot of questions and paradoxes, so it was really cool to dive into that.”

Future plans

On his future plans, he remarked, “Fingers crossed that we get a second season renewal. I will continue to audition to see what other projects are out there.”

The digital age

On being a part of the digital age, where streaming is so prevalent, he exclaimed, “I love it. Streaming platforms allow people to see the show from all over. The reach is truly incredible, and people are able to watch it in ways that more accessible to them.”

“I really like that; it has been nice for to see people taking the space they need to, and taking what they need from the show,” he added.

Advice for young and aspiring actors

For young and emerging actors, Cardinal said, “Keep following what you love, and make sure that you feel supported, emotionally and financially.”

“Being able to have that stability is such a gift,” he noted. “Being able to separate what you love from how you feel and experience being connected and valued is really important too.”

‘Pop Culture Unplugged with Elias’

Cardinal shared that he enjoyed being featured on “Pop Culture Unplugged with Elias.” “I loved getting to talk to Elias; that was a fun time,” he admitted.

Stage of his life

On the title of the current chapter of his life, Cardinal said, “Taking a Bet.”

“Honestly, this is a wager and me putting a bet on myself,” he admitted. “It’s me trusting in myself, as well as all the people that gotten me here too.”

Superpower of choice

His superpower of choice would be “time travel.” “Time travel would be cool… both into the future and also back in the past,” he explained.

Success

Regarding his definition of the word success, Cardinal shared, “Success is a process of pursuing something that you want and then, continuing to pursue it. Also, having the freedom to change direction too.”

Message for fans about ‘Bet’

For fans and viewers, Cardinal stated, “I hope this series gives people a sense of space. We designed ‘Bet’ not as a thesis or a metaphor; it’s a threshold.”

“I want people to walk through this story and be transformed and have that space to talk about what changed and why it changed,” he concluded.
