On their new song, “Celebrate,” they said, “It came about sitting around telling stories! We were planning a party at the house and somehow spiraled into comparing the house parties we used to throw in high school when our parents were out of town. We quickly realized that not much has changed. We just don’t get grounded for trashing the living room anymore.”
They shared that their music video was a great deal of fun to film. “It was fun for the first 10 hours of filming. We started to get a bit delusional at around the 4 a.m. mark. Fortunately for us, we used more of the 4 a.m. delusional takes than anything else. We, of course, saved Jordan making out with the mannequin for last. He was oddly way too into that,” they said, with a laugh.
Hundred Handed’s plans for the future are to release one song per month throughout the year. “We will be sprinkling in some extra surprises along the way. We’ll be on the road as much as possible and out having some fun! Long term goal: World Domination.”
On their musical inspirations, they said, “The three of us have been in bands for years and somehow the fun kept getting sucked out of it. So, when we started this band, we decided we would be friends first, band-mates a very close second, and have fun the whole time. We want to make fun music so we need to have fun first.”
Regarding the origin of their band name, they said, “One of the only classes in college that Jordan didn’t skip was Greek and Roman Mythology. The Hundred Handed were three giants with a hundred hands and fifty heads whose strength was even greater than the Titans. Zeus freed them from captivity to help overthrow the Titans by throwing rocks the size of mountains, one-hundred at a time. After that they wound up being the guards of Tartarus.”
They listed Daft Punk as their dream collaboration. “Those are some talented ass robots! The way that they can create and maintain a feeling from the first note of a song to the last is unparalleled. They’ve taken their influences proudly and made them something of their own in every song they’ve created. Plus, I think we could squeeze into those suits if they’d let us,” they said.
For aspiring bands, they said, “Be cool to every band and fellow musician you meet. This isn’t a competition.” “If you see us around, say hi! Until then, say ‘hi’ on social media. We love hearing from fans. Y’all are the reason we do this,” they concluded.
