Actor Houston Rhines chatted about his new original holiday film “Christmas Lovers Anonymous,” which will premiere on Great American Family on Sunday, October 30th.

In “Christmas Lovers Anonymous,” a best-selling author Katrina (played by Brooke Burfitt) hides her love for Christmas after an ugly breakup, finding love again when she joins a website for people who are crazy about Christmas: “Christmas Lovers Anonymous.”

“It was amazing,” Rhines said about filming “Christmas Lovers Anonymous.”  “We shot this in Wisconsin during an extreme cold front. It was -11 degrees outside at some points. I grew up in Ohio but my family couldn’t come out because of the weather. So why amazing? The people of course. When the cast and crew are people you genuinely like then it makes the experience all the better,” he said.

The movie was directed by Lexi Giovagnoli, and he opened up about playing the role of Hunter. “I like that even though he can be a cynic, he still has a good heart.  Through his journey during the film, he gets his faith in humans again,” he explained.

Rhines praised his acting partner Brooke Burfitt. ” Brooke is amazing. She is a professional, a fantastic actress, and someone I now consider a friend. I was lucky to work with her,” he said.

On being an actor in the digital age, Rhines remarked, “The process of making a film is the same just maybe a little quicker than it was before. So, as an actor, I’m doing the same things I would whether it’s being filmed or I’m doing a play.”

“As a consumer, I love all these available streaming services,” Rhines said. “At no other time in history, could we get a sudden itch to watch a certain movie then click a few buttons and be able to watch it. I’m one of those guys that will spontaneously want to watch a certain actor or director’s earlier films.”

For young and aspiring actors, Rhines said, “Read everything you can!  Watch everything you can!  Work on plays with your friends if classes are not within the budget. Be informed on current events. Look for metaphors or themes in the films you love. I could go on and on. I love talking about acting.”

Rhines concluded about “Christmas Lovers Anonymous,” “Each of us only has a limited amount of knowledge about what’s going on. We are all out here just trying to do our best and we don’t always know the other person’s point of view or reasoning.   So, hey. Just be kind.”
