Hillsong United talks new studio album ‘Wonder,’ fans, success (Includes interview)

Wonder debuted at No. 1 on the iTunes Christian genre charts. “We had a whiteboard that we tried to fill up, but we just always start out not knowing where we will end up,” he said, about the song selection process of the CD. “We started putting songs together and all the ideas, and we worked on the music more.”

He listed “Future Marches In” as his personal favorite song on the album. “That is the song that my daughter is loving at the moment,” he said. “Every time they get in the car, they put that song on and she knows it’s daddy singing.”

On his plans for the future, he said, “I’m taking it a day at a time right now. A couple of more kids, and keep doing what we are doing. I am doing what I love, and I’m falling in love with the journey.”

The band taped their The Today Show performance, and it will air on Friday, June 16, in support of their new CD.

Hillsong United stays connected with their fans through social media. “Social media is obviously the easiest way of doing that. Any time somebody comes up to us and wants to chat, we are more than happy to talk and take photos with them,” he said. “For us, it’s about staying grounded.”

“Success to me is writing a song that my daughter loves,” he said. “We love and appreciate you guys, and thank you for being on this journey with us,” Crocker told their fans.

Wonder is available on iTunes.
