She was 72 years old, and she died after a battle with cancer.
Ann and Nancy Wilson both paid their respects to Ms. Peters. “Carol was a remarkable human being. She poured her soul into everything she was: mother, wife, friend, guiding force, businesswoman and inspiration,” power-vocalist Ann Wilson said.
Lead guitar player and Heart vocalist Nancy Wilson also praised Carol and described her as her “beloved Jewish mother,” who was also a “matchmaker, deal maker” and even her Sunday “dinner baker.” “Carol was a ball of fire in a very small package. She lit up every room she walked into and couldn’t help but dance to the music that surrounded her life. She is now an angel among the angels,” Nancy Wilson said, in a moving statement.
Peters played a vital role in the music career of Heart, where she managed them for 17 years. Thanks to her guidance and support, she aided the group in getting inducted into the coveted Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, back in 2013. (That year, Heart had released their Fanatic rock album and their Strange Euphoria career-spanning box set collection).
Throughout her illustrious career in the music industry, Peters spent two decades working at record labels (Capitol, Warner Bros., Elektra and Pasha Records, where she worked with Quiet Riot), as well as one decade in one of the industry’s biggest management companies, prior to staring her own artist management firm, Peters Management Syndicate, Inc. in California. With her own company, she has repped Ann and Nancy Wilson from Heart, country singer Deana Carter, Latin pop star Vicki Carr, Christian rock group Seventh Day Slumber, all-girl group Sick of Sarah, reggae band Passafire, among many other acts.
