Styles sets first-week sales record in the United States for a U.K. male solo artist’s debut studio effort. In America, his album topped the Billboard 200 all-genre charts with over 230,000 units sold, where 193,000 of these units were traditional albums sold.
As a result, Styles made history as the greatest debut sales week for a U.K. male artist’s first full-length album since Nielsen Music began tracking sales in 1991.
His self-titled album entered charts at No. 1 in over 20 countries, which included the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia, The Netherlands, Belgium, South East Asia and the Middle East. His album was executive produced by Jeff Bhasker, with additional production from Alex Salibian, Tyler Johnson and Kid Harpoon.
Last week, his first-ever live show was a secret gig in London at the Garage. Shortly after he hosted a week long residency on the Late Late Show with James Corden, which consisted of episode of Carpool Karaoke.
Styles wrapped up last week with an intimate show in Los Angeles at the Troubadour, where he was joined by the iconic Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac for a duet of album track “Two Ghosts,” as well as a few of her own songs (“Landslide” and “Leather and Lace”). Styles will be headlining a sold-out world tour in the fall.
