This marks Green Day’s third career chart-topping album, and it peaked at No. 1 in seven countries around the world, which include the United States, Canada, Italy, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Green Day has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and they are a five-time Grammy-winning rock band. Revolution Radio has sold in excess of 97,000 copies in album sales and streaming units in its first week.
Green Day previously accomplished this No. 1 milestone in 2009 with 21st Century Breakdown, and in 2004 with American Idiot. In addition, this is the group’s tenth Top 10 album.
All of the album’s lyrics were written by lead vocalist Billie Joe Armstrong, who also serves as the primary songwriter, and the music was composed and produced by Green Day. This 12-track collection was recorded in Oakland.
