Actor Grant Holleman chatted about being an actor and storyteller in the vertical drama world and in the digital age.

Marie Curie once said: “We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something and that this thing must be attained.” This quote applies to Grant Holleman.

Vertical drama world

On being a part of the vertical drama world, Holleman remarked, “I love it! I think vertical dramas are becoming something very special. It’s a work in progress. I think it is going to be the next big thing.”

“I love it,” he reiterated. “It’s great to be at the beginning of this movement, which is growing exponentially. I have a feeling that it’s going to be the next big thing.”

‘Camp Evergreen’

Holleman starred in the Vigloo vertical drama “Camp Evergreen,” where he worked opposite actress Jenna Gilmer and Tristan Green.

“I loved that project,” he admitted. “We shot that in Georgia in the woods. The cast and crew were so great.”

“The cinematographer was the funniest guy I think I had ever met in my life,” he recalled. “He just made it so much fun and he got all the right angles and shots.”

Working with Vigloo

On working with the streaming service Vigloo, Holleman stated, “They are great. I love them! The storylines are really good, and everyone that I’ve met that is a part of Vigloo is super nice, and we still keep in contact to this day.”

Future plans

Regarding his future plans, he shared, “I don’t plan! I’m slowing down. There are no plans for the future. I’m just keeping optimistic, and I’m going to be saying ‘yes’ a lot.”

“Without giving too much away, I will be a part of a feature film that will be filmed in the summer of 2026,” he foreshadowed. “People are going to see a character that I’ve never played before.”

The digital age

On being a part of the digital age, Holleman remarked, “I’m an old soul. I’m a simply guy, not a tech guy by any means or tech savvy. I think we need to learn more, adapt, and get with the times.”

“At heart, I’m old school and traditional. So, I have a love and hate relationship with the digital age,” he added.

Advice for young and emerging actors

For young and aspiring actors, Holleman encouraged them “to study!”

“Competence goes a long way as, as well as confidence,” he said. “I came into this industry super confident. Then, I realized I was behind the curve because it takes a lot of studying.”

“You’re running along with actors that have been doing this their whole lives, and they take it very seriously,” he noted. “So, it is important to study and to get a good understanding of yourself.”

“For the young actors that are getting into this space, I would say be hungry, eager to learn and meet a bunch of different people. Watch movies, read books, and go to class,” he elaborated.

“I’m still in class myself,” he admitted. “Never stop learning though. Stay curious, have fun, but take it seriously.”

‘Private Affair’

On starring in the Vigloo vertical drama mini-series “Private Affair,” he said, “That was such a good time! It had the most efficient crew that I’ve ever worked with. It was so efficient to the point where we would finish by the time the sun went down, which is a rare thing.”

“We also filmed that in Georgia. The cast and the kids were great. Overall, it was incredible,” he said. “I really loved that project and that was my second time that I’ve led a cast. So, I was still a bit green and new.”

Stage of his life

On the title of the current chapter of his life, Holleman revealed, “Growing Pains.”

Success

On his definition of the word success, Holleman said, “Success, to me, has nothing to do with what others think success may be. It’s all internal.”

“If you make yourself proud, if you reach a milestone or breakthrough, or if you exceed an expectation or a limit that you’ve set, or you meet the goal that you’ve set, I think that is success right there,” he elaborated.

“If you hit the goal that you set out to do, that is success in my book, no matter how big or small,” he added.

Message for his fans

For his fans and supporters, Holleman expressed, “Thank you! As the years go on, buckle up because I am getting ready to spread my wings.”

“I’m all about honesty and transparency. If I can tell my fans one thing it would be to just keep their eyes out for Grant Holleman this year,” he concluded.
