Goldy Locks, frontwoman of the Goldy LockS Band, chatted about her new single and music video for “You Will Always Be Remembered.”

This song and music video are a tribute to the people we’ve lost.

What inspired you to write “You Will Always Be Remembered”?

The catalyst for this song was the passing of our drummer Rod Saylor’s stepfather, the very man who taught Rod how to play drums. This wasn’t just any drummer either; he played with Bob Hope on the Vietnam USO Tour and shared the stage with legends like Jack Jones, Peggy Lee, Diana Ross, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, and Steve Miller.

On a parallel track, part of the inspiration came from a phone call I had with my own dad. He was just being real with me, saying how left out he feels by today’s fast-moving, tech-obsessed world.

His mind’s still sharp as a tack, but with all the noise out there, it’s easy for people, especially seniors, to feel like they’ve been forgotten.

That’s why the title, “You’ll Always Be Remembered,” hits on two levels: it speaks to those we’ve lost, but also to the living who just need to know they still matter.

Why is this song so special to you?

This song is really special to me because there’s not a day that goes by when I don’t think about someone who’s crossed over.

When we play it live, we ask the crowd to hold up their phones with photos of loved ones they’ve lost.

We talk about them, we celebrate them, and we let them know they’re still on our minds.

What I love most is that a frustrating conversation with my dad turned into something so beautiful and inspiring—an anthem for those we need to remember.

I love the music video… How did that come about?

I’ve always believed that song ideas and concepts are inspired by something bigger—a higher power.

Honestly, I’m not even sure where the idea came from to include everyone’s “people” in this, but I have a feeling it had a lot to do with the incredible folks who stepped up and supported our last two video GoFundMe campaigns.

I just thought, what’s something truly special we can do to honor them? Let’s honor the people they love most, the ones they’ve lost. And that even includes the incredible man writing this article.

What did this song teach you about yourself?

This song and even more so, the video, taught me just how much I love the people who take the time to support our band. I had to ask (okay, sometimes badger!) people to send in their photos, but once they did, and I spent hours, days, even months animating those pictures into moving moments, something shifted.

I really started to feel like I knew the people in this video, the ones who’ve gone on to be with the Lord. It reminded me how deeply I appreciate every single person who’s ever been part of our band’s journey and success.

What inspires your music and songwriting?

Music, to me, is the most beautiful and pure therapy in its natural state. You can shift your whole mood in the snap of a finger. I’m constantly inspired by the bandmates I’m lucky enough to be surrounded by. We’ve honestly got the greatest lineup we’ve ever had.

Rod Saylor, our drummer, has been with us for years, and honestly, he’s so much more than a bandmate, he’s the best friend I could ever ask for. He’s been an unshakable rock in my life and in the lives of so many others.

Rod’s one of those rare people who’s incredible at just about everything he does, and his positivity is infectious.

No matter what adventure comes his way, he’s always up for it with a big heart and an even bigger smile. I’m beyond grateful to have him in my life and on this journey.

And then there’s Johnny Oro, our guitarist. His attitude and spirit are almost unreal. Honestly, he’s one of the most perfect humans I’ve ever met.

His playing is on another level, and his songwriting reminds me so much of one of my late mentors, Prince. Yeah—he’s that good.

At the end of the day, I get so much inspiration just from the incredible company I keep.

What do your plans for the future include?

We want to hit the road as much as possible, touring and opening for as many great bands as will have us.

We’d also love to team up with brands that want to lock arms with us, brands that see the power of music and video to bring real awareness to their product or service.

At the heart of it all, we just want to inspire people and make them happy through our songs and shows. Amazing mental health is something we’re passionate about and advocate for, and we truly believe our music can help people on that journey.

What would you like to say to your fans about “You Will Always Be Remembered”? (What’s the one thing you want them to get out of it)

Well, not to correct you—but we never use that “F” word… fan. 🙂 One thing we love to say is, The Goldy lockS Band: where fans are friends, and friends become family.

What we truly want people to know is that we unconditionally love every single one of them. No matter their background, religion, or political beliefs, we’re just so honored and grateful to have them in our circle.

We believe they’re going to love seeing their loved ones honored in this epic, forever musical prayer.
