His 18-city U.S. tour will kick off on Saturday, August 25 at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury in Westbury on Long Island, and it will wrap up on September 22 at the Tarrytown Music Hall in Tarrytown, New York.
Following the North American tour, which will finish at the end of September, Hughes will return to Europe, where he will bring his tour to his European fan-base.
Hughes, who joined the iconic rock band in 1973, will be singing hit singles and deep cuts from the lengthy Deep Purple catalog such as “Burn,” “Stormbringer,” “Sail Away” and “Smoke On The Water,” in addition to other classic rock tunes. Hughes’ main focus has been on the arrangements from the live albums as opposed to the studio versions since he wants to give fans and listeners a throwback concert of how Deep Purple sounded like in the ’70s.
In 2016, Hughes was inducted into the coveted Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in its “Performers” category, along with such veteran Deep Purple band-mates as Ritchie Blackmore, David Coverdale, Rod Evans, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Jon Lord and Ian Paice. Deep Purple has been praised as one of “music’s most seminal and influential rock and roll groups.”
