Canadian actor Giles Panton chatted about his forthcoming holiday film “My Favorite Christmas Tree.”

‘My Favorite Christmas Tree’

It will premiere on November 20th on Great American Family, and Panton stars opposite Emma Johnson. “This was pretty unique because we don’t really get to film these holiday movies when it’s actually snowing,” he said.

“I shot that one in December of last year and the production value was through the roof because there was real snow and real Christmas trees. We joked around the entire time and that translated well in the film. It was a lot of fun for me,” he explained.

“Emma Johnson is fantastic, she is quirky and really smart too,” he exclaimed. “Emma is great at what she does and she is fascinating to be around.”

In “My Favorite Christmas Tree,” Kyla is a skilled genealogy researcher who’s made a thriving business of putting together family trees. When she comes across new information regarding her mother’s mysterious extended family, she and her sister travel to the charming town of Conifer, hoping to piece together their ancestry.

The search leads Kyla to a generations-old Christmas tree farm, its stubborn but handsome owner… and possibly, love.

“It was really cool that Great American Family liked it enough to pick it up,” he said.

‘The Picture of Christmas’

In addition, Panton stars in “The Picture of Christmas” opposite Chelsea Hobbs, which premieres on Sunday, November 13 on UPtv. “This one was really cool for me,” he said. “Chelsea was a fantastic lead and she brought so much to the table. We have a great collaboration there too,” he said.

“The writer and the director created it together and it was a labor of love for them. The two of them are a power-couple. That project was inspired by events that happened in their lives. It was really cool leading up to it, especially to be in a project that meant so much to them,” he elaborated.

In this UPtv film, an aspiring storybook illustrator in Manhattan returns home after inheriting her Grandmother’s Christmas tree farm. Inspired by the magic of Christmas and the farm’s handsome caretaker, she is reminded of the things she once wanted in life. “The girl that plays my daughter in this, Mila Jones, was simply adorable,” he said. “I felt like a proud father of her on this project.”

Panton had great words about fellow Canadian actors Madison Smith and Tyler Hynes. “It is really exciting watching Madison Smith shooting up. This industry can be very grueling and it is good to see somebody who has stuck it out for so long and is still at it. I am very happy to see Madison flying up,” he said.

“Tyler is also great, I shot a movie with him and LeAnn Rimes, and then, Tyler and I paired up again in ‘It Was Always You’ with Erin Krakow and we play brothers in that one and it was a lot of fun,” Panton said.

He has also done a fair amount of voiceover work.
