Emery also released his unplugged version of their smash hit “Saving Light,” where he collaborates with Haliene. “She is an amazing singer,” he said.
He revealed that the only time he played in Greece was one big show with Armin van Buuren, back in 2010. “I would love to get back and play there again at some point,” Emery said.
Emery had nothing but the greatest words for Janet Devlin, his collaborator on “Lost.” “Janet was so much fun to work with. She is super talented,” he said.
The superstar DJ released two remixes of “Long Way Home,” which is featured as the outro for all of his live sets. “It is definitely the best ‘end of set’ track that I’ve got,” he admitted. “It has always been a really personal track to me.”
Emery paid a moving homage to the late Avicii. “That was tough for me. It really hit me hard, when I saw that. Avicii, as a DJ and producer, was just a light that shone brighter than any of us. He was just here for a far shorter time, and that’s what made it so sad,” he said. “I can’t say that I knew him too well, but we did nine or 10 shows together. I was a big, big fan of his music, and he was a massive inspiration to me, personally. It is heartbreaking since he had a lifetime of songs that he could have written, and we will never get to hear them. There is really nobody that could write music like Avicii. It is such a loss to the whole world of electronic music. It was just so tragic.”
On May 27, 2018, Emery will be back in the New York area headlining at Marquee New York. To learn more about Emery’s upcoming show at Marquee New York, check out the venue’s official homepage.
Emery defined the word success simply as “a balance of everything.” “It’s a balance of life,” he said. “You can have the most incredible success from a professional standpoint, but if you don’t have happiness in your personal life, then it is meaningless. For me, it needs to be a mix of professional success (as Gareth Emery the artist, and with Choon), and I need to balance that, and be a good parent for my kids and a good husband to my wife. I want to be healthy as well. That is really important,” he elaborated.
His two remixes of “Long Way Home” by Ashley Wallbridge and Ciaran Mcauley are available on iTunes.
