Gamers are interested in Modern Warfare HD over Infinite Warfare

After a week of speculation, Acitivision announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, an HD version of the original Modern Warfare, was also being developed. Currently it will only be available with the purchase of the Deluxe Edition of Infinite Warfare.

While reaction to Infinite Warfare has been mixed, many gamers have expressed their fascination for Modern Warfare Remastered. Fans have shown their support online through Facebook along with other news sites such as N4G.

Many on social media have been quick to point out that they have no interest in Infinite Warfare or that they will only buy it for Modern Warfare Remastered, then return the original game. One gamer, Kyle Songer, stated on the Call of Duty Facebook page, Bet money everyone’s gonna be on CoD 4 Remastered more than Infinite Warfare. That’s the game that made Call of Duty what it is today.

Another gamer, Steve Kolle, also stated, That awkward moment when you develop a game for 3 years but everybody is going to be playing CoD 4 Remastered.

Several memes have popped up on social media mocking how the community is more interested in Modern Warfare Remastered.

Back in May 2015, Microsoft set up a user poll to receive feedback after it announced that some Xbox 360 games will be backwards compatible for the Xbox One. By June, five of the top 10 games were from the Call of Duty series with Black Ops II taking the top spot, followed by Modern Warfare 2 in fourth place and Modern Warfare in the ninth spot.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be the thirteenth game in the iconic shooter series and it’s set to be released on November 4 for all major consoles along with the PC. The story follows an intergalactic war between United Nations Space Alliance against the Settlement Defense Front.

The original Modern Warfare was released back in 2004 and it was the first game in the series to not be set during World War II. It was universally praised for redefining the series while becoming a major influence on the shooter genre.
